Our Commitment to Privacy
SafePing is built on a simple principle: your safety tools shouldn't compromise your privacy. We collect only what's absolutely necessary for the app to function, and nothing more.
This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Data We Collect
Information you provide
- Display name (optional) – Used to personalize alert emails sent to your emergency contact.
- Emergency contact information – The name and email address of your trusted contact who receives alerts.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier – A randomly generated unique ID stored securely in your device's Keychain. This is not linked to your Apple ID or any other identifier.
- Check-in timestamps – The date and time of each check-in you perform.
- Timezone – Your device's timezone, used to display times correctly and schedule check-ins.
- Language preference – Your preferred language for the app interface and emails.
Information we do NOT collect
- Location data
- Health or fitness data
- Device model, OS version, or hardware identifiers
- Usage analytics or behavior tracking
- Advertising identifiers
- Contact lists or address book data
- Photos, files, or any other personal content
How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to provide the SafePing service:
- To identify your device and maintain your check-in schedule
- To send verification emails to your emergency contact
- To send alert notifications when you miss a check-in
- To display your check-in history and status in the app
We do not:
- Sell your data to anyone
- Share your data with advertisers
- Use your data for marketing purposes
- Profile you or analyze your behavior
Third-Party Services
SafePing uses the following third-party services to operate:
Supabase
We use Supabase for our database and backend infrastructure. Your data is stored in Supabase's PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest and in transit. Supabase is GDPR compliant and SOC 2 Type II certified.
Resend
We use Resend to send transactional emails (verification requests and alert notifications). Resend processes only the email addresses and content necessary to deliver these messages.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
- Data is encrypted at rest in our database
- Your device identifier is stored securely in iOS Keychain
- Access to backend systems is restricted and logged
- We use Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure you can only access your own data
Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as you use SafePing. We do not automatically delete inactive accounts.
You can delete all your data at any time by going to Settings > Delete All Data in the app. This immediately and permanently removes:
- Your device registration
- Your emergency contact information
- Your complete check-in history
- Any alert history
This action cannot be undone.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access – View your data within the app at any time
- Deletion – Delete all your data from Settings
- Portability – Contact us to request a copy of your data
- Rectification – Update your information in the app's Settings

Children's Privacy
SafePing is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
